Microsoft GL Actual compared to Budget Dashboard using eOne Excel Builder and Excel in 23 minutes! (with Video)

In the attached 23-minute video, I walk you through the process of using eOne Software’s Excel Builder in Microsoft Dynamics GP and Excel to create a dashboard to assist in budget to actual comparisons.

If you create budgets, you’ll need to compare them to actual numbers to see how close you are coming to your estimates/forecasts/budgets.

If you are holding Department Heads/Managers accountable to budgets, they need to review how they are doing along the way.

In the attached 23-minute video, I walk you through the process of using eOne Software’s Excel Builder in Microsoft Dynamics GP and Excel to create a dashboard to assist in budget to actual comparisons.

Dimension Analysis for MDA – SQL View for Microsoft Dynamics GP — GP Life Hacks

I LOVE MDA and apparently, so does Microsoft Dynamics GP MVP, Shawn Dorward.  checkout his blog post below.  He gives away a free MDA SQL View.

I LOVE MDA and apparently, so does Microsoft Dynamics GP MVP, Shawn Dorward.  checkout his blog post below.  He gives away a free MDA SQL View.

Earlier I wrote about how to use MDA for dimension analysis rather than Analytical Accounting. You can find that blog here. To continue that thought, I have created a SQL view to help users get that dimensional analysis data easily! The script captures commonly used data – if you feel I am missing something, please…

Using Relative Date Filtering in Microsoft Power BI

In this video, I demonstrate using Relative Date Filtering in Microsoft Power BI. My dataset contains unpaid Accounts Payable invoices and their due dates. I use the Filter options to restrict the visual to display only invoices that are in the next 275 weeks. My sample data is way out in the future, realistically, you would want to see what’s due this week, month, etc.

Check out this blog post from my www.BIBelinda.com blog.

It’s April and spring keeps trying to break through. If you aren’t thinking about vacation, you haven’t been cooped up long enough. Once you start thinking about tropical beaches and drinks with umbrellas in them, how do you find the time? One option is Historical Excel Reporting for Dynamics GP. Compare 2 Microsoft Excel Files using Inquire (Video)

Have you ever needed to compare data in 2 Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets?

In this video, I show how I compare the addresses on the Microsoft Dynamics GP Vendor card with the addresses in the Vendor Address card.  One of my followers asked me about this comparison due to concerns that the data imported in each table might not match.  I’ll use the Excel Add-on, Inquire, to compare data from each of these tables.

The Spreadsheet Inquire window can compare any Excel files, and do so much more!

Obtaining Microsoft Dynamics GP Employee Head Count (Part 4) in Power BI (Video)

This 9-ish minute video shows how I performed the data modeling and visual creation of the Microsoft Dynamics GP Employee Head count using the Historical Payroll Checks in Microsoft Power BI.

Last week a Microsoft Dynamics GP user asked a question in the user group form www.GPUG.com about obtaining the employee Head Count in Power BI.  I offered a suggestion and another user offered a different suggestion.  I thought about it over the weekend and realized this would be a great opportunity to review the importance of knowing your data, or being a Data Consultant.
